Very Velvet

With fall now in full-force, it’s time to refocus, rejuvenate, rejoice… and reinvent! Super excited to see that some retro trends that are rapidly reemerging! And one fabric is more coveted than others this season: velvet. The plush and soft sheath is reintroduced in lots of colors across all facets of style.

You might ask –how to crush the velvet trend, making it look bold and new? Colored velvet is really the way to go…adding rich luxe colors to basic velvet fibers is the only way to work it and make it work for you…and you’ll be set for day or night, when you pull this for your wardrobe. So, ditch the basic black look and grab onto the coattails of a luxurious royal blue, if you want to look and feel like royalty! Dare to be (very!) different in this sleeveless BodyCon Midi Club Bandage in royal blue and watch everyone swoon!

So, this fall, don’t be afraid to break out of your mold and try velvet for a change. Whether it’s a small statement piece, as in a sweet velvet clutch, or an entire outfit, it’s your time to shine and velvet will help you do exactly that. At the beach this summer, I ran into a few boutiques and they were showcasing, of all things in the heatwave, crushed velvet camisoles! Look at this one from Ro and De. It’s perfect for layering under a fitted black blazer. Just throw on some jeans and booties and you’re good to go anywhere in perfect fashion.

With the newest velvets, wearing it well means simply, well, wearing it! The rest comes easily, as in the compliments and looks of approval you’ll garner along your route.

Velvet jackets are all the rage, and you may even be able to reach into the dark recesses of the back of your closet to find one–always searching “out of the box” for my followers! You can save some money and time by modernizing an older velvet jacket by throwing it on over narrow pants, pointy toed boots, and a neutral hobo bag. Can’t find anything in your own closet? Then give J Crew a second look for this basic Regent blazer. It’s feminine-yet-fitted, slightly longer in length, and it will instantly pull any outfit together.

For your feet: this season’s short, velvet statement boot is a must-have for any wardrobe. Nordstrom is carrying this Topshop Harry velvet bootie in a very wearable brown-think espresso! It’s great with all skirt lengths, all jean styles and it even does justice to everyday leggings!

Last but not least, why not try a vintage inspired velvet dress? Forever 21 has an adorable crushed velvet lace up mini dress in mauve that will leave you looking, well, adorable for a very small investment.

Velvet is here to stay and is always worth your while so let me know what you think you’ll be choosing for your back to fall wardrobe! I love hearing from you and I read every word!!!💕💕
